A Fully Private Hotel Immersed in Japanese Culture and Art
Hospitality That Resonates Through Every Detail Cleanse your body in the steam inspired by Rinkan Cha no Yu, then gently unwind your mind with a quiet cup of tea. As you surrender yourself to the tea room—where the spirit of hospitality lives in every detail— a one-of-a-kind artistic experience naturally emerges through the space itself.
Cyashitsu Ryokan TAICHI will open as an exclusive retreat, welcoming only one group per night, as a secluded annex of Cyashitsu Ryokan Asakusa.
Here begins a special stay—one that gently purifies both body and soul.
While sharing tea after the bath, guests are invited to experience Rinkan Cha no Yu, a cultural practice cultivated by tea masters of the Muromachi period (1336–1573), reinterpreted here in a contemporary form.
Behind the sliding screen, you will find a bathing area to take a soothing steam that helps unwind your inner tension. This moment quietly marks the beginning of a truly special stay.
On the second floor, there is a small tearoom to take a little moment to enjoy a cup of tea, freshly prepared from the hearth set in the center of the room. Let the warmth and fragrance guide you, as your body and mind gently drift into a state of relaxation.
Passing through the tiny doorway known as nijiri-guchi, you enter a tea room softly filled with dim light and quiet shadows.
The low doorway requires one to crawl through, which symbolizes modesty, equality, and detachment from the outside world. Surrender yourself to a depth of tranquility reminiscent of a womb.
As you calm your thoughts in the dim light, in the subtly emerging golden glow of the sliding doors and contemporary art pieces, you may find yourself immersed—through all five senses—in the traditional Japanese sense of beauty and aesthetics.
The spacious room you will find on the other side of the sliding door is rendered as a single work of art, with its walls and ceiling draped in beautiful Japanese paper that reflects the expressions of the gentle, shifting lights.
Outside the window overlooking the borrowed landscape of a miniature courtyard garden, a private open-air bath beckons. Feel your mind and body dissolve into nature as you soak yourself in the warm bath, amongst the urban atmosphere of Asakusa.
Cyashitsu ryuokan TAICHI is nestled in the heart of Oku-Asakusa, a neighborhood that retains its deep, alluring charm, tucked away off the bustling streets of vibrant Asakusa.
With a warmly attentive approach—what we fondly call “a little helpful meddling”—our staff will guide you through the neighborhood.
By touching the everyday life of this town—absent from any guidebook—your journey will become one to linger in memory.
Gently surrender yourself to the air of Oku-Asakusa and to the warmth of the people who live here.
